Can I get some opinions on this pedigree:
CH Hektor Von Heisterberg I know it's not your classic 'working' or 'show' lines--she told me they were more like 3/4 Amer and 3/4 Germ.; however I loved the two dogs I got from her (way back when I didn't know any different than to see an ad and buy a puppy. I will say that she definitely was more serious about her dogs than any other breeder I had seen to date <at that time> 'grin'). One dog I had was full brother to this dog, and the other was actually sired by this dog. The brother I had looked like a doppelganger of this guy .. could kick myself for not trying conformation when he was a wee pup. They had an amazing temperament and were great companion animals; the brother I had excelled at obedience as well. |

I can't tell you really anything about the dogs in the pedigree. But, from the pedigree listed on pedigree database it doesn't seem like this breeder is very knowledgeable at all and may be, in fact, a BYB or a really small hobby breeder. The first thing that I want to address is the fact that the breeder's math is all off by saying the lines are 3/4 and 3/4. Where I went to school at, that doesn't equal a full 1. They can't be 3/4 American and 3/4 German. I think she may have been trying to say half and half on the American and German. If she wasn't, then I seriously question her education lol. Also, the dam's side of the pedigree is only halfway completed, so does the breeder not actually have her papers or know anything about the dogs that are in the pedigree? Just basing off of what you have told me about the breeder, I wouldn't buy a pup from them.

The sire has some West German Showlines, some DDR and some ??? nothing....the dam is ????
Like so many people who breed a little and sell through classifieds, they have a pet AKC female and find a male with some credentials in his his background.... the lines behind Hector that are known are well known dogs and kennels...but they are 3-7 generations back....apparently strong genetics and you got nice companion dogs....if you are looking again, these lines are still behind many dogs today. Yeah that was a typo on my part ... 3/4 German 1/4 Amer is what it should read. Hektor is from their breeding so it may be that they did get into conformation and become a bit more 'serious' about the dogs ... or he was sold later. Her husband passed away and I haven't been able to contact her. As to the pedigree database.. I'm not sure who input the info. I was surprised to see the dog there actually.
I agree the lines are iffy ... at least Hektor himself got his championship as well as his CD. Thanks for your comments!
