Hey everyone! Still learning and absorbing!
. This dog popped up on the PDB ads and I am just curious about these lines. Hoping some of our pedigree gurus will pipe in and tell me what you see here. His color markings make him look like a SL/WL cross, but his pedigree shows all working dogs. Not sure what type working lines are present here or what can be revealed about this breeding, but would be interested to know. P.S. Not interested in buying, just curious! ![]() Matrix Moravia Artex - German Shepherd Dog |

He looks pretty much like a nice working line male to me........What looks showline about him? I have a working line Czech x West German Working puppy who is also a patterned sable with some redness about his tan......

I edited - he has some Czech in him but I see West German, Sweedish (I think), Slovakian etc. Based on the different listed breed registries.
There are saddle black and tans in the working lines - it is just not typically bred for as a goal but a saddle crossed with a sable can give you a patterned sable.

The dog's great-grandmother Boa von der Germanquelle is show lines.

So, she is.......but you dont have to have showlines to wind up with a patterned sable.

You are correct. I was responding to OP, who said the pedigree was all working dogs.

A lot of Czech lines incorporate "old" showlines.

hi Lakl, nice dog !! posed over stretched , but nice conformation -- looks like this would be a fleet footed agile dog.
here is a dog that I owned and loved VELMI DOBRA Kety Betkin Dvor - German Shepherd Dog Kety Betkin Dvor -- see Cedra on the pedigree of the male you posted . Pedigree is built for working even though there is a distant touch of a show line . This is a freedom that working line breeders have - the ability to select freely from where ever they feel a quality will be brought in. Show line bred dogs tend to be rather tight and exclusive (see IceBerg breeders thread ) . I would not hesitate , and have used show lines - as long as there is not a careless application or a wide deviation from the original purpose -- it has to have an end game plan. so to answer your questions - this is a working line male , bred for work , with Czech and west German dogs weaving in and out of the pedigree .
