I just got a new pup. I am no good at understanding pedigrees. I am new to buying from a breeder (I mostly do rescue work). I have met both of the parents of this pup, I know they are both nice dogs temperament and health wise. I was just wondering if anyone could give me a little more insight as far as what I may expect from my pup! Any input is appreciated.

Sire:
Ares vom Himmel - German Shepherd Dog

Dams sire:
V Delhusa vom Haus Christa - German Shepherd Dog

Dams dam:
CZR Mery Z Safarova - German Shepherd Dog

Here is the pedigree to your pup (just makes it easier to read this way).
Mating test - German Shepherd Dog

Venka may not be the actual dam, but the pedigree will be the same.

Pedigree is all West German show lines. Can't speak to the individual dogs and bloodlines and what they'll produce as I don't know them, though in general WGSLs tend to be fairly consistent in temperament and physical type. Maybe someone more familiar with the specific lines involved can provide more info.

Hi,

I am also researching my WGSL girl's pedigree. I plead complete ignorance in my case too! The best way that I found to learn: get a very big piece of paper and copy down all of the info from pedigree database and then start plugging them into Google.

Yes, it's time consuming, but I started with no knowledge of these lines and now I'm enjoying putting together the pieces of her genetic puzzle. The big piece of paper allows you to have all of the names, titles, and hip/elbow scores handy and you can take notes on all you have learned about individual dogs.

*We share Ursus von Batu on our pup's sire's side.

Yeah, but it's nice as a pedigree newbie to be able to hold hands with other newbies and hum "It's a small world after all".
