I am familiar with these dogs. I bred Hazel von Narnia to Chero Bulsara several years ago and had a fantastic litter. Several of them are doing personal protection and service work, no sport though. Good hips, great temperaments, great drives.
I own a neutered male out of Nancy by Largo.... (I forget) whose hips were not good enough, but is a fabulous dog. He goes horse camping, to the beach, just hook up the truck and he will be waiting to go with us. He is the best ambassador for the breed, his obedience is perfect, he is gentle even with tiny children. Bringing him out to meet and greet has sold people on the breed many times. I wish his hips had been good enough to breed. I love him very much.

I personally knew Askia (dam's paternal granddam) and her littermates and their mother line. Nice litter. Askia was not yet mature the last time I worked her (if I am remembering which one she was), but the drives were there, and she seemed to be developing nicely. Her brother Arek took 3rd place in the USCA NE regional SchH3 championship in, I think, 2003. BTW - Askia's grandmother Vina was SchH3 even though it isn't listed on PDB.

The only thing I am struck by and trying to understand is the mixing of all of these lines? Was it done with a true purpose or have these dogs just been slapped together willy nilly?

This is so interesting, thank you so much for the input. My dog so far has been very quick to learn, he does exhibit a lot of barking at other dogs yet when loose he gets along with them.
Anyway, I'm not going to pursue any protection training with him, it is very strong in him as it is, trying rather not to bring that out in him. Have exposed him to Flyball, but will do tracking in the fall. He loves to jump in the truck and head out anywhere for long walks. |

Looking at the 6 generation pedigrees for this, the sire's pedigree is entirely Czech and German working lines.
6 gen. pedigree for Nadia Vom Warwick - German Shepherd Dog The dam's 6 generation pedigree 6 gen. pedigree for Nadia Vom Warwick - German Shepherd Dog reveals her sire is also solidly linebred on well known German working lines. Her dam however, is from American line The sire of her dam goes back to very famous American show dogs. This kind of breeding can produce a very nicely balanced dog physically and mentally, one that is capable of working in Schutzhund but who is also able to calm down &behave in the house & be a good family companion. Some of the very best "all-around" most versatile GSDs I've ever seen were dogs who were 3/4 working lines and 1/4 American show lines. |

Thank you GSD, it is always "risky" purchasing a pup. My understanding of pedigrees is so limited, I have owned an American Shepherd and was not impressed with her intelligence so I knew I wanted a German bred dog but did not want an aggressive dog. He has to fit into a life of a family and go on trails while I ride my horse without attacking dogs etc. he is proving at 7 months to be a quick learner and is adapting to our life. I am very impressed with the breed, the only thing I would eliminate is his huge barking at dogs while walking on a leash. I'm still working on that. Thanks so very much for your input.

OP, sounds like you have a great dog. However, ASL and WL breedings are often times a crapshoot because you have such different nerve bases. Those breedings GENERALLY do not turn out completely stellar. Cliff and a few others have explained it quite well in the past.
