my 11 year old GSD has been a great pet...
his lines...... sire: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/germ...ation-pedigree dam: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/germ...ation-pedigree my question is, based on the lines, would you have considered him to be a candidate as a great family dog because he really is? so do the lines make a dog what it is or is it the pedigree< im sure its a combination of both, but how much of each? |

I'm confused---"lines" is basically the same thing as "pedigree."

Very true Ace. A pedigree is like a roadmap, it gives you a general idea of what to expect but the individual dog's temperament, physical soundness, etc, experiences along the way, environmental influences, so many other things also have a hand in determining where you end up at. And for every generalization or rule, there are always exceptions just to keep us humans respectfully unsure of Mother Nature!
