Question How do I get the paperwork?

The breeder we got Ziva from was great about giving us the paperwork for her and proof that she and many generations before her were AKC and the Kirschental line. We were able to get a three generation from AKC themselves but the breeder has a ten generation that he was able to show us but wasn't able to copy for us because of its size. I wrote AKC about getting the ten generation but they can only give me up to a five. I've since tried to contact the breeder and he's lost his house and I have no way to contact him. Since I already have some of the info for Ziva's line, is there any way for me to get the rest of her bloodline? Should we ever breed her someday I want to be able to show the new parents her proud line and their accomplishments.

Go the AKC site and start typing in names of the dogs in the pedigree that you do know. An online pedigree or 5 generations is 12.00. To go further back buy more pedigrees for the older dogs in the line.

You can also go to the Pedigree Database www.pedigreedatabase.com and type the name Kirschental into the search box. See if you can match up any of those dogs with the pedigree you have.

Check out pedigree database as mentioned above. Just type in the dogs you know from the pedigree you have and follow the lines back.

As for the breeding, check out this flowchart. If you can make it all the way through, i'd give breeding a go.

If you can't make it all the way through, just enjoy your pet without breeding like 99% of the people who consider breeding should do.

You can get 6 or 7 generation pedigrees from people who provide a pedigree service. Buy a Dog World magazine and look in the back in the classifieds. I have worked with Brewster and another. These services seem to be better at tracking one type of titles and dogs, and do not get all the champions, etc right. So once you get the pedigree, you have to go back and double check the dogs on the pedigree database (which can also be flawed).

You can get a fantastic pedigree from Yvonne Hecht if the dog is all German lines, done up with photos and a nice book!

Bits & Bytes GSD Pedigree Research

It is done from the winsys database and will have much much much more info than the AKC one.

And it will be significantly more accurate than the pedigreedatabase.com.

The vom Kirschental lines are easy to trace, for instance just look up Ganja vom Kirschental on Pedigree data base and you've got another 3 generations back.
Our dogs are cousins!
