Looking at a Pedigree what do you look at? How can you tell a Czech is a Czech or German etc? I like researching all aspects now of this breed and would like to find out more about my pup. I thought he was German/Czech but it looks like he's mostly German but I don't really know what I am looking at.
Pup's Pedigree (dad is Bruno and mom is Reyna): Mating test - German shepherd dog What are different titles? I know all the Sch ones and BH but what are all the others? Can someone point me to a list or a place that would help me out? I am fascinated by everything...thanks! |

Here's a good primer of some of the terms used on pedigrees:
http://home.flash.net/~astroman/glossary.html I don't know enough about Von Stroman to recommend them as breeders or not, but their GSD info section has a lot of good information for people interested in learning more about the breed. http://home.flash.net/~astroman/gsdinfo.html As far as knowing Czech from DDR from Belgian from West German, you just have to know the kennel names and the names of often-used dogs. There's no shortcut.

You pup is all German even though his mother's mother goes back on some Belgian lines. You have to learn about the dogs to understand the pedigrees.
IP or IPO is the international SchH. Pretty much the same rules. FH, FH1, FH2 - advanced tracking WUSV (World organization of German Shepherd Dog clubs). This is often added when the dog competed at their SchH3 championships. BSP - German National SchH3 championships (GSD) LGA - regional championships for SchH3 GSD in Germany
