A local breeder has this dog and i would just like to know what they history is, since i am not that great at reading pedigree's. The dog looks Czech to me, but maybe WGWL too? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks, Mike Jana Vom Ron - German shepherd dog

The breeder of this dog is on this site though not a regular poster.
I would contact her directly as she owns the parents and would know them best. I don't see anything but Czech. I gather from speaking with her that she is dead honest about her dogs and the intent of her breedings. German Shepherd Dogs for Family/Personal Protection, Police, Schutzhund/Competition

Looks like almost all Czech with a few DDR dogs way back in the 6th generation. I do see a random showline in there in the 4th generation on the dams side -- Grando.

I think you usually see random showline on the DDR usually.
I think you usually see DDR back in the Czech pedigrees too. "I think" I am no expert.

"I think" so as well, just pointing it out that they are there since OP thought it was Czech with some WGWL.

Looks like the Grando daughter, Ora, is all show lines (from the 80s)--but the Czech breeders generally took these showline dogs and integrated them well with their working dogs. And it wasn't until the 70s that there started to be much of a split between the dogs bred for the conformation ring and the dogs bred for working/sport.

the show line if the pedigree is correct , because a lot of pedigrees on the data base are not -- is incidental . One line was introduced for what ever reason and then they went back to working. That is a very strong looking pup by the way.

Carmen good point.....many times I see people dismiss a pedigree if they see any showline. You have to look at the pedigree in total and how does the showline fit into the picture. Some showlines have strong influences of say Mutz v d Peltzerferm and maybe a breeder wanted to improve a structural area and they have workinglines that has Mutz also. The introduction of the showline could very well be done and maintain good working ability and improve what they sought from the showline. That would be good breeding, imo.
