Question Pedigree Opinion

I went to see a GSD breeder in my area. They seem like responsible breeders. They have immaculate facilities, screen for health issues, etc.

I have no idea how to properly analyze pedigrees though and was hoping for advice from those experienced with them. I know that parents have an enormous influence on a puppies temperament, drive, etc.

This is a litter they have planned for later in the year.

Sire: August Von Wentworth Haus - German shepherd dog

Dam: Henshaws Freya Vom Sucherquelle - German shepherd dog

We are planning to go with a male puppy since we already have two female pack members. (Family pet)

Thoughts?

I don't know any of the dogs personally and don't have any insight into them except that Freya has a lot of Grafentals (DDR) on her motherline. My pup has a lot of Grafental also and so far he's been awesome.

August's mother Cora has/had hip dysplasia. August himself has good hips, but if I were looking into this litter I would want to see hip scores on Cora's siblings and offspring to make sure that her faulty hips are just a fluke and not something genetic. H

Is that really a photo of August??? I know the guy who bred that litter (accidental litter - Ruger climbed fence while owner was away....female had NOT been OFA'd yet - she did definitely fail OFA) ....

will send you a pm.....

I can't think of any reason a reputable breeder would breed from a dog with a dysplastic parent????

I think this breeding is kinda extreme on different sides of spectrum, but my biggest fear would be too much aggression loaded in this pair.

Thanks for all of the advice.

I've decided to pass on this pairing. (Potential aggression/temperament issues)

Hackez, you've made a wise decision, IMO. Cliff & Lee are very knowledgeable with an excellent grasp of what people need in 'family dogs'.
