Helping an older dog adapt to a new home?

So this weekend we are getting a white gds from another family because they can't care for her because she doesn't get along well with their pit bull. (The GSD name is diamond) shes 6 years old so she's an adult dog . so just need some advice on bonding and helping the diamond adapt to her new home. Advice to bond with her? And helping her adapt? Will she get home sick a lot? When to introduce different things in the new environment ? Need some help!

I think the first few days should be fairly quiet and calm.

There are some great threads about introducing a new dog to household.Do you have other dogs? Alot of people reccommend a two week shutdown. Iknow that in my experience its best when its calm and quiet like Harley said. There are quite a few threads about introduction and new dogs .
