Lisl has wised up

She refused her Trifexis altogether for the first time since she's been on it. I don't blame her. The stuff stinks.

Breaking it up and hiding it in cheese or a hot dog piece didn't work at all this time and only halfway worked last time.

This time I smashed it into a fine powder like you would with a mortar and pestle and mixed it in with a helping of Stouffer's mac-n-cheese.

She ate it right up and wanted seconds.

Peanut butter is the end-all be-all for dosing up dogs.I have also used a slurry of good stinky liver and blood gravy to get the meds down.

Well, in all honesty, having to wrap up their meds in tasty treats means that the dogs have successfully trained US to give them tasty treats. Subtle. Sneaky. Be afraid.

I don't know about that. If she wouldn't eat it stuffed into a hot dog, why would she want something else?

She always ate the hot dog and spit out the small piece of the tablet I stuffed in it. Cheese didn't work either.

Apparently the mac and cheese masks the smell of the meds, and she can't taste it as a powder mixed with liquid cheese.

You found a solution! Don't let dog forum responses get you down! Brembo and I were being lighthearted, about the dogs training us. You were successful medicating. Be happy
