Default TPO Surgery today for Black Berry

A week before Christmas, Bear had a stumble at dog park, never limped, but maybe his leg was sore. Last week after a visit to the vet and xrays, Bear has bad hips. We were referred to a skilled surgon who recommend TPO and has done thousands of these. He is almost 10 months and this option would not be available after 1 year old. He is having surgury today and of course I am WORRIED. I am worried about recovery. I hope this expensive TPO surgury improves the quality of life.

My heart goes out to you today. I've been there. The waiting is the hardest part. Keep good thoughts. I'm sure he will be just fine. There is a yahoo group called Orthodogs and they talk all about tpo surgery. Good luck to you!

My dog was non-stop before the surgery and his recovery has gone very well (a different surgery). He seemed to know he wasn't quite well and did a lot of resting. Amazing how smart dogs are. Please post how the surgery goes. Best wishes for a succesfull recovery.

Poor BEAR! We feel so bad for him. The TPO opration was Thurs, he came home on Sat. The doctor says the surgery went well but He is uncomfortable, ouchee, hardly eating, peeing and pooping is difficult, cries-whines often. I know this is the hard part. I am praying its worth it.

Good luck to Bear! Our last pup had the tpo done at 4 months and she did wonderful with it! Time is of the essence with this type of surgery, I am surprised they were still able to do it at 10 months. Now the tricky part to keep him quiet..lol good luck with that Let me know if you have any questions, I would be happy to answer any.
