I have heard it is a complete waste of money.
Have considered dremeling your dog's nails? Really difficult to quick a dog with a dremel... just grind down the nails until you see the quick.

I agree with using the dremel. I can't see how those clippers would detect the quick? Plus some dogs nails are really sensitive where you may not clip the quick, but it hurts them if you get anywhere close to it!
