Does anyone know of a pet service that one could call to let them know you would be gone for the day and expect to receive a call when you get home....if you don't call, they would start a phone tree to alert someone to take care of the animals.
What I do right now (because I am so paranoid about this) is call a friend (my only one!!) and let her know that hubby and I are going out together and she should expect me to call when we get home. If I don't, she is to call me (yes, I have forgotten to call her....tsk tsk). If she doesn't get an answer, then she is supposed to call my closest neighbor (who is in our living trust to take care of the animals upon our hospitalization or death....for a fee). This works for the time being, but I feel I am taking advantage of her, she isn't in the best of health and I don't want this to be stressful for her, but she says she wants to be my 'person'. I still would like to find a service that I could use....is there such a thing??? I don't want to be a burden to the neighbor by calling every time we go out together....his service would be in an emergency only. Any help would be most appreciated (except to see a therapist....lol) thank you, Ruth |

If I were you I'd just program a TON of numbers into your cell phone listed as 'emergency'. I know all the police/ambulance services now go immediately to cell phone info is someone is too hurt to use the phone themselves.
If you list the numbers as EMERGENCY then just make sure you tell the friends family where your extra keys are, or make sure they have house keys to get into the dogs. You can also have a list of the same numbers in the glove box of your car and in your wallet. I think that would be much easier on you and your friends cause the numbers would ONLY be used in an emergency and you wouldn't have to remember to call anyone if it was a late night!

unfortunately, I think of worse case scenario ....what if the cell phone is either burned to a crisp or thrown out of the car....
my husband is checking out call services now....like robot calling....seems like a good idea. You set up a message to go to anyone on your call list at a certain time. we're testing some now. the main thing would be that it can be cancelled if we do get home in time. I'll be back when we know for sure what we're going to do and let you all know what the service is. if you want to check this one out, call-em-all dot com |

My husband take insulin for diabetes. So I always think about the "what if's" My husband wears a bracelet on his arm that list what he has...and in his wallet there is a card that list all the inportant information.
Maybe you could do something like that. Wear a bracelet on your arm that say to check your wallet......and in your wallet keep all your information about your dogs. Also, they sell bracelet that are a small USB device with a medical warning on them. If something happened, all the EMS/or doctors had to do was load the USB in the computer to see all the information information. Check amazon. |
