Default Cost of OFA certs and recommendation in the northeast?

Hey everyone,

I'll need to get OFA's on my dog in 2 months (he turns 2 in February) to know if it's safe to continue with schutzhund and work on all the jumps, and just in general I'd love to know if I need to manage any HD or ED (lol, elbow displasya).

How much do they usually cost? Any recommendation in the northeast?

I heard there are placed that dont put them under anesthesia but I'm not sure how credible that information is (I don't know how you'd keep a dog stable long enough to get good x-rays without) but if it's possible and you know of a place please please recommend it

Thanks!

I would look for a place that has a digital x-ray machine. Cost is dependent on the vet. The OFA fee is minimal. With a digital machine, the x-ray can be viewed immediately and if the picture is not good, adjust accordingly. It would be difficult to recommend a place to go without knowing what city, town you are close to.

There is a vet near Ithaca that does digital and is really good at reading them, or for that matter, Cornell University.

I would find a good place out of NY state. NY they put the dogs totally under for xrays. In other states they don't......personally preference I think it's way overkill to do that to a dog for xrays. Since you are relatively close to other states, I'd possibly look elsewhere.
