Just wondering what people's opinions are on getting these vaccines. The vet sent me these:
Rabies Canine 1 Year (can I request a 3 year)? Lyme Vaccine Booster Parvo booster, my dog had parvo when he was young and I thought that made him immune Leptospira Vaccine, googled this one and it seems to be pretty prevalent Let me know what you guys think and what you would suggest actually getting. After he had parvo I would rather pay 20-30 bucks a vaccine and be safe than have him get it months later and pay hundreds. But I also don't want to be paying for something he doesn't need. |

Emoore, read your blog and it was good information. Now, I have heard I should do the booster at one year old and then move on to the three year rotation. So what do you think? Do all of them and then start to rotate, or start the rotation now? I guess I should've mentioned he's turning 16 months old in November so these would be the first shots since puppy shots.

The AAHA recommends boosting all the core vaccines at 1 year-- rabies, distemper, parvo, and adenovirus, and then rotating every 3 years after that. So if I'm reading their recommendations right, you'd do boosters on everything this year and then start rotating after that. Although honestly, if it were me, I'd probably just start rotating now. Or just do titers, but those are more expensive than vaccinies.
Also check your state laws, you may be required to do a 1-year booster with rabies the first time. In which case you could do rabies this year, distemper/parvo next year, and then adenovirus after that.
