Last week I posted about my Shepherd/ Lab rescue, and today I got him neutered. Along with that, he had a few abrasions on his scrotum from excessive licking/ dragging and there was excess skin, so that was removed as well.
I feel so bad for him! He normally is such a happy boy, but when he got back he seemed so out of it and sad. I know it is an effect of the anaesthetic, but still! All I can to now is make him comfortable, monitor him, and give him extra love. Has anyone else had a dog that was out of it/ not his or her normal self after surgery? How did YOU cope with not having your best friend feeling so well?

Oh, I am sure there are lots of members here that have went through this. Just give him a few days and he'll be back to his old self.
When my boy got neutered I keep all the other animals away from him b/c he was very grumpy and just let him sleep it off. In the morning he perked right up. Just hang in there and monitor your boy closely and give him his pain meds and he'll feel better soon.

Lucky is my drama king. When we got him neutered he was out of it and seemed to just be uncomfortable and grumpy and he cried. He got his meds and chicken tenders later but he whined and if a dog can sulk that happened till the drugs wore off. Lucky per his first vet who treated he and Daisy for his first 5 years crowned him the most dramatic dog in the clinic. That might be because I quilt easily

Yeah, I think we've all been there at one time or another.
After Gunner's neuter I was just so sad seeing him with those droopy eyes. Sitting there looking at me like "why did you do this to me". ![]() The following day he was back to his old goofy self. Don't worry, all will return to normal in no time.
