Is this a regular coat or a long coat?

I would start slow.

First introduce the grooming stuff one day - let her sniff it - give her a treat, etc.

Next day take a brush and gently brush for a minute...stop preferably before she starts to act uncomfortable about it - again - treats..

Just keep doing this - brushing - treats...make sure that it is always a positive experience!!

If that means only a minute that's fine - obviously you can work up to more time as she gets comfortable.

Who knows? Maybe she'll love it from the get go getting pampered.

I would work first on brushing then on something else like teeth, nails etc.

With teeth/nails/ears make sure you get her used to just being touched on her ears and stuff first before actually trying to trim nails.

Not much grooming necessary for a regular coated dog. I don't foresee much of a problem with brushing. I prefer to brush dogs standing up and I put them on a box so I don't have to bend over so much and they can't wiggle without falling off.

I'm assuming you've been doing toes all along?

toes are always short from the constant walks on pavment and outdoor activity

so first brush and then we move onto those combs? i read we use 2 combs for gsds?

sometimes the coat can get oily texture and ur hands will get this wired oily substance not sure what it is probably from lack of grooming? or maybe it is the feeding the dogs get my dog is on orjen now i heard it was the best food out there from what my breeder said makes their coats really nice also

brushing for a minute sounds good. since
you're only going to brush for a minute
or so do it several times a day.

i'm don't know why your dog feels oily.
does she need a bath????

I have never used a comb on my dogs and can't imagine why I would do so. I occasionally will use an undercoat rake on them for a minute or two of brushing and that's it, except when they are blowing coat and then I rake them a lot.

Your dog should not have an oily feel to it. Does bathing get rid of it?

hey yeah i was mostly trying to get rid of her puppy hair

when i brush her she leans into me a lot and sometimes will mouth a bit but makes no noise

i thinkm she gets herself dirty when we go on hikes she will roll in mud and jump in water etc.
