I am a newbie at the RAW diets and I haven't made the switch yet, mainly because I am concerned about feeding a balanced diet since my GSD is very, very active. I want to make sure he gets everything he needs. Right now he's eating about 5 cups of premium kibble (= 2 pounds) and he's still on the thin side at 18 months.
So far I understand, besides the meat and bones, dogs also need organs and omegas 3's.(I feed raw eggs already with his kibble) To be honest I am lost on what supplements, if any, I would need too. My question is that I see young WHOLE chickens at the market for cheap and want to know if I can feed that......would feeding a young whole chicken satisify the organ componet that he needs? I've been doing a lot of research and reading current and past threads on this website. Seems like RAW is a little more complicated than I thought. I was thinking I could just feed eggs and chicked quarters and be okay, but it appears that's simply not the case. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! |
