Hello all. It's been about a week since I started my dog Aiden on raw food. After months and months of switching around kibbles, trying to find something that he would eat, let alone do well on, I realized that I should give raw a chance. My close friend started her female on it a few months ago, and the difference in her coat texture and overall health really convinced me. With that being said, I am still very new to this, and would appreciate any and all suggestions that you all have.
I did learn that I should start with chicken first, as his only protein, until he adjusts. I started with the calculations fromWelcome to the Raw Dog Ranch. His goal weight would be anywhere between 85 and 87 pounds, so I started him with about 2 pounds a day. Should I be feeding less? His weight right now seems to have stayed the same. He's a very lean 80-83 pounds, and could stand to gain a few. Should I adjust the amount at all? As far as his appetite goes, so far so good! He eats every last bit and even licks his dish clean! (Keep in mind that Aiden has gone close to 4 full days without eating a thing, until I offered him canned cat food mixed with his Orijen.) Other than that, I'm starting to get nervous about introducing variety into his diet. He has such a sensitive stomach, and I really don't want to throw him off. I figured turkey first, then some bison after a while, then lamb and pork. Any other suggestions as far as introducing the new meats in to assure I don't upset his stomach? Thanks for everyone sharing their experiences with this diet. Before I found this site, I wasn't sure I'd be able to handle raw feeding at all. Aiden thanks you too!

Sounds like you have a good plan. Since you've been feeding chicken and there's no allergies, go ahead with turkey- feed just turkey for 1 week, beef another week etc. and see how he takes it.
If all is good with Aiden, then slowly start him on vitamins.
