Default Venison Issues?

So I tried giving both Loki and Luna venison. They both loved it, but Loki is have problems. Then next day, Loki had problems urinating (I posted about that in the health section) and today he had a black stool.

I took him to the vet about the urinary problem, and then I figured to try some home things while we wait for his urine to be sent away.

I gave him some raw pumpkin to hopefully settle his stomach, but has this happened to anyone? The venison was really bloody (which may be the reason for the bloody stool?)

I think the bloody meat probably caused the black stool. I had a dog that cut it's lip and it drank enough of the blood for that to happen. I don't know about the urine.

Was the venison fresh, or previously frozen? I try not to feed fresh game, it may contain parasites.

hopefully it wasn't fresh, cause deer season (bow season) doesn't open till next weekend! Unless it was bought from a store.

Depends on where you live? We are on a list for fresh roadkill venison, so it may be available fresh anytime of year. I won't feed it freshly butchered.
