Default Love the knuckle bones for recreation, don't love the squirts that sometimes follows!

I only buy the ends and try to find ones that are more cartilage than marrow but sometimes poor Saphira gets the squirts from her knuckle bones.

Could the cartilage be giving her the runs too? I asked the butcher to cut the end of the femur down a little more where the bone gets narrower because I figured the opening would be too small for her to get a lot of marrow out rather than how they usually cut them right at the start of the long part and then in half so all the marrow is exposed.

Love the peace and quiet these buy me inside the house but the poor pup has made 3 trips outside in 3hrs! We went from normal poo to soft pudding to watery squirts. Only good thing I guess is that each time it was less and less. Two heaping tablespoons of pumpkin have been given and I may add some rice in with her dinner to act as a binder.

I want to keep feeding these but I feel bad for causing the diarrhea.

It could be the tendons, but most knuckle bones have a lot of fat on them. The marrow is also quite rich. Maybe let her have it for a shorter period of time. Is Saphira raw fed or kibble fed?

Are you giving her knuckle bones (which have NO marrow) or femurs (which have marrow)?

For the femurs, you can always remove the marrow using a long spoon or just run it under hot water for a minute or so to melt the marrow and watch it slide right out.
