My wife and I are trying to get pregnant and we are wondering about our GSD eating raw and being around a baby. He licks us ALOT and I mean ALOT...so breaking that habit at this point is not gonna happen.

Probably no worse than the dead animals he sniffs or the duck poop he eats on walks, right?

It's unsanitary for a dog to lick a baby no matter what they eat. Probably less so with raw because at tleast they have some natural enzymes from the bones helping break things down.

I would get a health check up to see why he's licking so much--it might be some kind of mineral deficiency.

And work on training it out of him...

No worse than him licking his own rectum or penis and then licking you.

If you are worried you could just keep him away from the baby for about 30 minutes or so after he eats. That should give his mouth plenty of time to get 'clean'.
