Was just wondering how much of a meat they should get in order to be counted as another protein source for the week? Obviously a little scrap you wouldn't count because I wouldn't believe it's enough to give them the nutrition variety that you need from multiple protein sources.
Anyone have any recomendations on how much/how many ounces they should get before you consider it another protein source for the week.

I don't worry too much about precise amounts, though my dogs aren't sensitive to new foods. That and the fact that reactions don't present until a few days after introduction sometimes.
If you see runny stool after a portion of 1/2 the meal(new protein) then see if it continues after a few more feedings. With all my dogs, I never did the one protein for a certain amount of time before adding in another....but chicken was always the first one I introduced. Supplements are more of a concern for me. I try to introduce them one at a time and build up dosage over a week or so. Does Jinx seem to have any issues with food changes? |

No she doesn't have any issues. Maybe I'm not conveying myself well (not a big shock there lol) I try to give Jinx as much variety as I can for nutrition purposes.. obviously she can't just live on chicken or chicken and beef etc... I try to make sure she has at least 3 different protein sources each week. What I'm wondering is from a nutritional stand point about how much would you ideally like to feed the dog to count it as being nutritionally beneficial to them. If you give them a meal with say 8oz of a new protein would it be enough to be counted as another protein nutrition/vitamin wise? Like today she got around 5oz of boneless alligator meat would that be enough to give her variety or is it not enough to do much nutrition wise? Let me know if you don't understand I'm sure I'm coming across poorly.

I would say at least one full days worth of feedings would make it count as a different protein source.
That would be at least two MM meals or two RMB meals or one of each. I tend to use MM for my 'different' protein sources. My little guys can't handle any of the large RMBs so everyone gets chicken RMBs for the most part (Sasha and Mauser do sometimes get other things).
