I want to switch my 2 1/2 year old GSD to raw but I am completely lost. I have read so much conflicting advice and I have no idea what to do and where to start. Some say give chicken breasts, chicken organs, and chicken backs. Some say give meat, organs, ground veggies and bones. Some say give meat, organs, veggies, calcium supplements and other supplements such as fish oil, multivitamins etc. Please advise.

Good place to start without a lot of conflicting information:
Welcome to the Raw Dog Ranch The first dogs I switched to raw I started on chicken leg quarters. I wean my puppies onto ground whole chickens. It is one of the easiest things to start a dog on.

I started with chicken quarters as well. After a week, I added other proteins one at a time. Liver was tough since she would have nothing to do with it but finally got her to eat chicken liver. Now she'll eat any liver I give her.
Look on rawdogranch.com for Lauri's spreadsheet. It will help you figure out portion size. |

I started my dog on raw at about the same age. I didnt want to try to figure out ratios either. Afraid I would do it wrong and she would not get what she needs. So I went commercial raw diet:
Oma's Pride Home There are others out there. You can even call and talk with them.
