Default Resource Guarding

I have not been on this forum for a long time, because everything was going fine with Max till last week..

Once a while I give max a bone and he used to hide it and don't chew or play with them. Yesterday, I hold that bone for him and he started chewing and enjoying it. He got it to really small size so, I was going to take that bone away. Soon I got up, he started to run away from me and sat away from me and started chewing again. I finally got to him and when I tried to take bone away he started grawling and tried to take a snap at me.

He doesn't react to any other members of my family when they walk by him, but when I get up from my seat he starts to run away with his bone. He doesn't react like this with any other toys, foods, etc.. This morning when he did that I traded that bone for lick of peanut butter and he was fine with it.

What do I need to earn his trust again?

I wouldn't make a fight/battle of this.

I'd go to the fridge, get a piece of cheese/liver/beef, and trade him out for the bone. If he learns it's ok to give up stuff cause he gets even BETTER stuff, he won't resource guard anymore.
