Our golden(1 year old and neutered) is having some issues with our new puppy. Inside the house whenever the puppy approaches him he'll go rigid and usually will either growl and/or snarl at him... He's also snapped at him once when he had a stick in the backyard. And sometimes he'll just turn away from the puppy and walk away.
Outside in the backyard all he wants to do is play with the puppy, he will bounce around him, play bow and try to get the puppy to chase him. The puppy is not terribly interested in playing with him ATM. We've had issues with our golden resourse guarding against other dogs since we got him. I've had him on NILIF and he was improving greatly, previously he had nipped my other dog twice, bit a dog at the beach and got into a scuffle with another dog at the dog park. So we stopped keeping toys around the house and stopped taking him to the dog park. If there's no toys involved he loves meeting and playing with other dogs. He seems to be resourse guarding my husband and I and whichever room he's in at the time though I'm not 100% sure that's the reason right now. I'm thinking that he's beyond what training I can do and my husband and I are going to look into private training or behavorist for him. If that doesn't work, I don't know... I love this dog but perhaps him in a one dog only home would make him happier. Now saying that, this is only the puppies second day here.... So any advice on how to make adjustment easier for everyone would be greatly appreciated. Right now I'm just trying to keep them seperated. Sorry for such a long post, I've had no sleep lol and I'm really worried... I was honestly not expecting this reaction to the puppy from him, he's usually great with other dogs(minus toys being involved of course)

Oh I forgot to add, we did do obedience classes with the golden but with them being group classes we didn't get much help with the resourse guarding issues.
I should also note that I am 100% consistent with NILIF but my husband is not.
