Not a GSD, but I wanted to post about an incident affecting friends of ours. A couple has a Great Dane (about 2 years old) who was bought by college aged son as a puppy, then came home to live with the parents. This dog lives outside on an invisible fence. He has been sent away for extended periods of time for training but neighbors see little evidence of the owners ever interacting with him.
A year ago he killed the family cat. Last winter he "bit" two people, both were wearing heavy jackets and only suffered torn clothing and no skin contact. Recently he was suspected in the mauling death of a neighbor's cat. Yesterday while the woman was walking him and her small dog, he attacked the daughter of a friend of ours. A chunk was bitten out of her calf, numerous stitches and a large open wound with a drain. Animal control has the dog presently and I'm not sure what the law is here regarding his future. With all the red flags in the past I sure wish proactive measures had been taken. |

I wish that when he was a puppy someone had trained him, that's what I wish!!
