We do our part in bringing over several dogs to the house as playdates to keep the socialization healthy. Jada our 1.5 year old GSD has always been aggressive around her crate...she doesn't want other dogs near her crate. I've always said fine whatever that's her house I get it but it hasn't gone much beyond that until this last weekend.
We're currently babysitting a male 85 lb rotty. Jada is very aggressive towards him all around the house...she just all of sudden darts towards him and starts bitting on his face snout area. I'm just not sure how to handle it? I don't know if I should tell her NO firmly, give her a "pookie pookie it's ok jada its ok" in a baby voice, crate her when she does it, or just ignore it as she's trying to say this is my house and I'm alpha? I have no idea what the proper correction is with this? |

Personally, I would correct that behavior and I would also correct any resource guarding that presents itself whether its the crate or you or whatever. In a multi-dog household, at least IME, any sort of pushy, bitchy behavior only escalates until eventually fights break out or one dog is left cowering in the corner afraid to move because the other dog is constantly picking on them. This is not her role to play and you need to step in and let her know that YOU control the situation and she doesn't have to. From the behavior you're describing it sounds like she is more insecure and doesn't know how to handle it than being dominant.
