Nipping at kids

My 3 year old GSD is still all puppy. He is full of energy and loves to play. So with this and knowing that the breed demands order and will herd my kids I understand his behavior to an extent. He has lately started to mouth my daughters hand. He doesnt bite down and I dont think that he is nipping. There are no marks and she doesnt express pain. My wife has a different opinion. My wife says that my GSD is nipping or biting my daughter and that this behavior will escalate. I am not sure exactly what he is doing, like I said there are no marks or physical biting just mouthing.

My girl only mouths my hand and my husbands as we are putting on running shoes to take her out because she is so excited to go play.

Your dog is probably trying to get your daughters attention to play and it does not sound to me that he is trying to hurt her.

We have a very mouthy Dachshund who does this as well, it doesn't hurt, they are just putting their mouths around your hand.
If your wife is skeptical you may want to have a behaviorist come in and confirm what's going on, I'd hate to see you have to give up your dog because of this.

How old is your daughter? Have you read sites like this? http://dogsandstorks.com/

he's probably looking for attention or he wants
to play with your daughter. when he nips what do
you or your wife do to correct the nipping???
