Default aggression question

I am new and trying to post a question to Aggression the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
I adopted a wonderful GSD puppy in November 2010 from a Rescue group and he will be one year old in September. He has been to Obedience and Canine Good Citizen. I am with him 24/7, since I am home now. We go for long walks/jogs every morning. He is very well socialized - very friendly when out in public. Protective at home - just like an alarm. I belong to a group that discusses Dog Training issues and a friend in that group is a Trainer. She was called to a home to help a family that has a White Shepherd. This dog is in a family that does not socialize or exercise the dog at all. They called my friend to help them, but my friend says that this dog is too far gone. This dog is only 9 months old and is in danger of being put down. I don't understand how a dog could be too aggressive and biting people at this young age. Also, due to neglect, this dog is acting just like you would expect. If someone could step in and rehab this dog, they would be saving his life. Regular adoption groups will not take a dog that is so aggressive. I am upset that this family got this dog in the first place. They are in South Carolina. Thanks for listening and any advice is appreciated. thanks, Linda H

If they are near Augusta, I have a friend there who is an excellent trainer.

Default to mary and the furry crew

Hi Mary - can I have the name and contact info - I think this family is beyond entering a training situation and wants to re-home or PTS, so if you know anyone that can re-hab and re-home - that would be ideal
