Our newest was diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus when we first got him. It basically means that the dog can't use water stored in the body, but has to constantly drink in order to meet the requirements of daily living. He had the exact symptoms you are describing.
If this is your dog's problem, it would be very dangerous to restrict her water intake.
Fortunately for our guy, this diagnosis was incorrect and he was "just" severely dehydrated from being deprived of adequate water most of his young life.
Maybe you should ask your vet about that problem, or some type of diabetes issue?
