Default 9 month old with one knee larger than the other

I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this. Yesterday we had our pup at the vet for a check up and had her check out his legs while there. She pointed out that the knee on his right hind leg was noticeably larger than the left one and that concerned her. When you grab hold of one, then the other, you can definitely tell. He doesn't yelp or act any different when you do that, He hasn't been limping, and has never been injured. He is somewhat cow hocked but that has been improving as he gets older, though she said she didn't like that either. He will be getting neutered in a couple of weeks and she is going to do x-rays then. Until then, I'll just worry, but wanted to see if anyone has come across his before. Thanks for any replies.
