I would start looking for breeders now.
Meet them in person if you can, see their dogs and interact with them. Develope a relationship with a breeder so that you do not feel rushed when it is time for you to start looking for a puppy to bring home.
I contacted a Dalmatian breeder a year and a half before I went and got one, I really liked that breeder and planned on getting a puppy from them but things kept happening like a false pregnancy, a missed heat cycle, etc. I ended up going with a different breeder after talking to her for about an hour, it just seemed like an excellent match and it was! Love my dog, love the breed and I love the breeder.
