Default TOTW side-by-side comparison & question

I am a fan of TOTW High Prairie (bison/lamb/venison). My shepherd is SO prone to grumbly squeakers of his tummy that I simply do not mess with the guy. TOTW bison + Animal Essentials Probiotics has him balanced perfectly. Shhh. Don't even mention the B-word (bloat).

Having said that, I am not thrilled with the higher protein and fat content on this version. Possible bloat vs. a bit more protein/fat. No brainer there. Still, not thrilled.

Went to order food on the big A. Found there is a "new" formula -- wild boar (which there is not THAT much wild boar, whatever). Read a review because people are raving over it. A very thorough person posted a side-by-side of all the flavors. How convenient!

I realized that TOTW High Prairie Puppy -- has lower protein, lower fat, and bit lower calories. I notice "chicken meal" is removed (ewww) and potatoes are a bit higher on the list. I am thinking . . . could this bring what maintains my Shay AND cuts what I don't like? It might even trim another pound off the chubbers sheltie by being lower in calories! It's a couple more $ per bag, but hey, I don't have kids.

Why do I care especially about protein/fat? I have a theory that it is harder on the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. The sheltie people are havng a dreadful time losing dogs to these at 6-8 years. I am thinking of "organ support".

Note -- I would LOVE to do raw but I shop once in three weeks and don't have an extra freezer. IF I lived in a city, I'd be feeding raw.

What do you all think? Better, worse, the same? Anyone use the puppy food as an alternative to the higher protein/fat in TOTW bison recipe?
