Do puppies go through adolescence?

My GSD is now a 7 months old. She behaved beautifully up until about a month ago. At about 6 months, she started to pull on the leash, even though she had already been trained and was walking very well for months. The hardest part is seeing another dog. She goes ballistic! She wants to play and starts lunging, pulling, yelping etc. It is difficult to handle her because she is so big. Why did her behavior change so? And what can I do about it?

They all seem to go through this stage at one time or another.

Be patient, yet stern. I know a lot of people will disagree with this,

but a prong collar is the best and shortest route to getting her under

control. And no she is not to young for it. Loving sharp corrections

are what is needed, this is a fast light snap of the lead.

Just enough to get her attention, this should do the trick.

If it doesn't, give her a little more. But what ever you do

don't get in a pulling match with her.

Yes they do. My male, intact, 13mo has really started pushing my buttons. Not forgetting commands, just choosing to do his own thing. If I keep him engaged we are golden, if I let him think, he always chooses the wrong thing!!!

Consistent, firm and fair "reminders" or corrections and just keep plugging along. They do grow out it. If you keep up your end.
