Military Dogs of the Imperial Japanese Army in Manchuria
I recently published an article that might be of interest to this forum: https://medium.com/war-is-boring/22927a219235
The article explores the story of a three German Shepherds of the Kwangtung Army in Manchuria in 1931 (the time of the Mukden Incident). I hope some of you find it interesting. German Shepherds actually comprised 90% of the working dogs of the IJA and were said to embody the spirit of the Japanese soldier (it is no surprise then that like "Alsatians" in the UK, German Shepherds became known as simply "シェパード" [shepard]).
