Anxiety?

I have chihuahuas. And I raised them to be the quietest most not shivery chihuahuas I've ever met. I'm new to the GSD breed tho. Has anyone found a good method to raise them? I'm trying to avoid raising an anxious dog. I want to start a strong foundation for a happy healthy dog. We don't have him yet, but he's a white shepherd.. If that matters.

Start with good breeding. The parents will tell you a lot about the genetic temperament. Then reasonably socialize. Go find the thread on Rethinking Early Socialization. Some great information there. Get into classes and hook up with a trainer that hopefully has some GSD or similar experience. Don't act anxious around the dog. Positive reinforcement works great with these smart breeds. Be flexible and have a sense of humor.

Key to start is as DutchKarin mentioned, doing all the hours (day?) of research to find the best breeder that has dogs with the stable confident temperament we all want. ---> http://www.germanshepherds.com/forum/welcome-gsd-faqs-first-time-owner/162231-how-find-puppy.html

After that, alot of the burden is on us to raise a happy and confident puppy with appropriate training (dog classes) and socialization. http://www.germanshepherds.com/foru...ialize-i-want-photos-videos-puppies-dogs.html

Good luck! And read thru those links.
