Make sure you read --> What is crate training (why put my puppy in a cage?)
so you understand why crates work so well. And the small ones are what our PUPS like for a safe haven/lair. It's we humans who are confused and thinking 'oh it's a horrible small cruel cage'.
I'd just go out and buy a small crate too that you use for the first few months. So much easier to move around too. Put in the car for socialization and puppy trips so they are safe. And moving a smaller crate around the house and keeping it beside the bed at night is also easier.
Good luck with your new puppy!
