I hope other people reply to this post as I really don't have any good advice to give..
Since we can't see the behavior ourselves.. It's hard to tell why or what is triggering this. Especially if its just at night?
Anyways my best suggestion is you find a private trainer to come to your house, and tell you why he is doing the behavior and make a plan to help you help him stop the unwanted behavior. Counter conditioning is one of the best things you can do for a dog who does unwanted behavior. Look up Sophia Yin she is a great resource, also look up Patricia McConnel, she has also been a really good resource for me and my dog.
