Life happens sometimes. Seven weeks is a long time to be in a kennel, but it is not the end of the world, and the dog isn't a puppy. People sometimes are sent over-seas for a period of months and their dogs manage ok.

I had my brother's nutty GSD for two years, from age 3-5. She was fine when my brother took her back. She loved me like crazy whenever I visited over there.

I would be worried about taking my dog with me to other countries, or rather, I would look into things like quarantine regulations, and rentals with dogs.

Some people just have to voice their opinion, and if what they say includes a dig on whoever they are talking to, all the better. It's an opinion, weigh it, consider the source, choose to act on it or ignore it, and then let it go.
