Have you tried putting your knee out and letting him fall on it? Don't knee him in the gut, but if you do it right, it doesn't hurt him, but it works well. With a loud unpleasant noise is best. Then, after he is on the ground, I would make him do something, probably sit, and tell him that he is good (only for doing what you told him) It will take a while if you use this method, but it does work. I have used it for most of our dogs (19 of whom are jumpers) and it usually works.
