So Ammo is 13 months now and been doing real good. He has been a little excitable lately, I think it's because he has been cooped up in the house more. Usually when he gets the zoomies I take him out and play frisbee. Works well to wear him out. All in all he is a normal teen GSD.
He does do a couple things that has me scratching my head. The 1st I know why he does it but I don't know how to stop it. I have 3 kids, a 10yr old son, 8yr old daughter, and 22 month old daughter. The 22 month old and Ammo get along great. She will walk up to Ammo and pet him or lay on him or even pull and tug on him. He sometimes does his bite nip thing with her but she never reacts to it and he usually stops or she tells him no and he stops.
The older 2 are a totally different story. Any time they so much as walk past him he starts his bite nip thing. He never bites them hard but he snaps at them and it freaks them out. He does it because he gets such a huge reaction from them both. When he bites at their feet they jump back and yell, which makes him even more excited. They can't even pet him because he has learned that when he snaps at them they freak out. I have been working with both kids to try and explain why he is doing it but it isn't helping. They are already scared of him and he knows it. He has never ever hurt them, not even a scratch, but they think he will. Even when he is relaxing and one of the kids reach down to pet him the kid usually is very hesitant. Any ideas how to mend the relationship between my older kids and Ammo? I hate that they are so scared of him for no reason.
The 2nd thing he does just has me stumped. Every time he sees someone get a hairbrush out he freaks out. He doesn't try to bit it our anything like that but he becomes very whiney and very loud. He whimpers and whines. I have no idea why he does this. I don't know if it is stressing him out or what. Anyone have any idea?
