A week ago in the farm i let my gsd to run after a herd of sheep , he's never had such an exhausting exercise. Afterwards i noticed a slight limping in his gait , i examined his leg very thoroughly and he never showed a sign of discomfort. Next day , i took him to the vet because the limp was worsening. After she examined him , she said " apparently No need for imaging , it's just a sprain or a strain. Also , she told me that using anti-inflammatory drugs will worsen the case because he will use the leg more often and cause more damage. I bought a joint supplement human grade. It has been a week and he is still limping with the same degree and has not improved at all .Although, he had plenty of resting with no walks for the whole week. Suddenly today , i looked at his hairy paws and remove some of the hair and found that half the skin of one of his paws chopped off in the injured leg. Picture attached please look at it.
Could the chopped skin is what causing the limping or maybe an underlying injury in his paw's ligaments or tendons?
I put antiseptic solution on the chopped skin to clean it but he hasn't shown any sign of discomfort.
hes 13 months old male gsd , he's not in discomfort nor he is agitated. He plays and eats as usual.
please help me what could be the problem and how to treat it effectively.
