Xena has been around kids (I have three and there are a ton of kids in our neighborhood) since birth and is normally good with kids. My kids can lay all over her and she is fine. There are a few kids in the neighborhood who are either kinda rough with the other kids or act scared of her that she will NOT let anywhere near her. She barks and acts like a maniac. Yesterday one of the boys who acts kinda scared around her (and will stare her in the eyes, which I know dogs don't like) was near our home and she was barking like usual. I told him to just let her sniff him and she would probably calm down. He wouldn't stop looking her in the face and I feel like if I had not been holding her leash she would have bit him. She kinda snapped, which probably didn't help the boys fear. She sounds completely afraid when she is barking and her ears are pinned back and tail is down. She does not act like this usually. I told him to stop looking at her and just walk over to me and when he did that she sniffed him but was still acting so freaked out.
I do not know what to do, I don't want her to be aggressive but I am at a loss at what to do. I socialize her often with both dogs and people but I just don't know how to help her not be so afraid.
