HELP excessive drinking/urination
I adopted a German Shepard mix from an animal shelter recently. The vet say he appears to be about 6-8 months old. Super sweet boy, very soft fur, full of energy, loves to play and loves to eat. When I got him he was very thin and is starting to fill out after 2 weeks. The major problem I have is the urinating! If I fill a big water bowl full he will gulp it ALL down (we're talking a half gallon) and then proceed to pee EVERYWHERE! I took him to my mother's house where he gulped down the water there, she refilled it 2 times and he peed in her house 5 times within 3 hours. He's been twice to the vet, different vets, and both told me the same thing: they aren't concerned it's a kidney failure issue or diabetes because he is too young and healthy looking. I have yet to do blood work or urine screen because neither vet recommended it. I've put him on a water/food schedule where I let him drink water after eating and/or right before I take him out for a walk. That seems to help some but he still pees in the house if I cant get him out the door fast enough after allowing him to drink (or first thing in the morning) Does any have a similar experience? Any advice? Please help. I love this little guy so much but my Landlord isn't fond of all the peeing on the carpet!
