Visualize how you want her to go outside. See the whole process in steps. Train one thing at a time via those steps. For example, I'm going to do the bell thing with Franklin. My process would be teach sit, which he knows. Then sit at door before going out, treat while pottying outside. Potty means good thing. Introduce bell. Hang it from the door. Continue sit at door then add touch the bell. Treat when she touches bell, then go outside. Through the whole process, she'll associate jingling bell means you need to take me out. At least that's the end result. We hope.
I had him when he was 2 weeks old. I built a whelping box with separate rooms. Mess area and sleep area. The older he got, the more I took him outside to go. For myself, I firmly believe the whelping box helped build the foundation of no messing in the house.
