I was taking Maggie out for her afternoon walk on Saturday, as I approached the last turn to get to our street I heard people yelling for a dog to stop him/her several times and calling the name to stop, mind you Maggie is on a leash and 9 months and still a puppy in my eyes. But anywho, this other dog came flying across the street full speed after her. I had no time to react because I was not expecting this to happen. The other dog started to attack my dog, luckily I had time to pick her up (53 lbs) before it got worse. At least two different times the other dog tried to bite her. After about 1 min. or so the neighbors finally got the dog away. They did apologize and tried to help out. I ended up taking her to the ER vet to be checked out. She will be ok other than few bites. I felt so sorry and sad for her. She was so defenseless against the other dog. We got the bill ER office visit, meds and cleaned up the wounds.. $161. Should I go down there (walking distance) tomorrow and show her the vet bill and ask that she should pay it? I got home from work and she seems back to normal..for now. She is right next to me on the couch sleeping as I type this. Any inputs, this is new for me, this is my first dog and I need to do the right thing. Thanks for reading and sorry if this is a long post.
These pics aren't as bad as it looks, they had to shave around the wound to clean it. My wife took these while I was at work.
