Hey, GSD community! I'm Chloe, but you guys can just call me Fireflii; it doesn't really matter. I guess I'm not exactly new, but this would be my first time posting on the forums. Based on what I've seen, I believe most of the users here are professionals, married, etc. but I'm only 18 so I freely admit I am no expert on German Shepherds, but I would like to think I know more than my family (dedication and motivation!). Nonetheless, I'm here to learn! When I was young we owned a black Lab and an Irish Wolfhound. Both have passed since and then we received a Golden Retriever (who we no longer have) and a now-17-year-old English Springer Spaniel. Regardless, ever since I can recall, I've always wanted a German Shepherd. Just something about them seems majestic and regal, and their intelligence and loyalty just gets to me.
So, to get to it: this summer my family decided to get a German Shepherd. My dad had owned two before, so aside from my personal research, I relied quite a bit on him to help pick out a breeder (of course, he was also paying, too... but looking back on it, I'm not sure if I would have picked the same breeder). Regardless, we ended up getting this little guy who I've named Enzo (after the book "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein):

Anyway, as I mentioned before, I am uncertain if I would choose the same breeder again. Her German Shepherds were oversized, however, I'm also thinking that though they are oversized, her concentration would be more on working, temperament, etc. So he's very large right now; here he is today (5 1/2 months old):
So, that's us! I'm glad to be here and am eager to learn more about German Shepherds!
