Barking at other dogs when on a car ride
I'm not sure how to address this one. The short story is I have had my 3year old male for 4-5months now and he's doing great. Temperament wise and getting along with other dogs is good for the most part. Obedience is pretty good and he usually listens to me.
One issue I would like to work on his that he barks at most (not all) dogs when on a car ride. He loves his car rides, to him its the best thing in the world. He rides shot gun and sticks his big head out the window, but when we come across other dogs when driving in the city he barks. He does not do this at the house or on walks. Just on car rides. If we are driving fast he doesn't always but if we are stopped at an intersection or driving slow in the city he likes to bark at other dogs.
I think part of it is that he is super wound up that he's going for a car ride and just can't control himself. He doesn't jump around and is secure in a harness but he just can't help himself. I don't think its barking in an aggressive way but more to say "look at me, I'm on top of the world!" type thing. Anyone else have this issue or any advice on how to correct it? It's not a huge deal as he's secure in the Jeep but others walking dogs probably think he's an insane killer type thing.
